5 Things You Need to Know About Travis Scott

After news of Kylie Jenner's reported pregnancy broke last week, some fans of the Life of Kylie star might be curious to learn more about her (rumored) baby daddy. Kylie has been dating rapper Travis Scott since April and the couple are allegedly planning to welcome a baby girl in February. For all the hard core Kylie stans out there who want to know more about Scott, we've put together a list of all the things you absolutely need to know about the 25-year-old rapper. He's one of hip-hop's biggest rising stars with a long resume that will impress, well, everybody.

1) Travis Scott Isn't His Real Name

Jacques Webster, Jr. is the birth name of the rapper Travis Scott. According to Rolling Stone, his stage name was inspired by an uncle.

2) He's a Texas Kid

Scott grew up in Missouri City, a middle-class Houston suburb. Despite moving away from home, gaining notoriety as a hip-hop artist, and touring the country, his hometown remains important to him. After Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston area, Scott took to his Instagram account to spread awareness. "Phoning home," he captioned his post with the prayer hands emoji. He also included a photo of all the necessary phone numbers to call during the emergency.

3) Kanye West Had a Hand in His Success

Yeezy had a hand in helping Scott reach the level of success he's at today. He recognized Scott's talent early on. Kanye tapped Scott to work on Yeezus behind the scenes, as well as signing Scott to his GOOD Music label in 2012. Despite later signing with another label, Scott and West have stayed close over the years. Kanye West is, as everybody knows, married to Kylie Jenner's older sister Kim Kardashian. The world is small, guys!

4) He Has Two Platinum LPs

Despite only being 25-years-old, Scott is making serious waves in this hop hop industry. He helped pioneer a new style of hip-hop music, with Rolling Stone describing it as "simple, beguiling phrases about partying and drugs in an Auto-Tuned singsong over hard-edged, low-lit beats. It's a style you hear everywhere in hip-hop these days, from Migos to Future.

As if helping to usher in a new era of the genre wasn't impressive enough, Scott had two of his albums go platinum on the same day. Rodeo and Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight dropped a full year apart from each other, as well, which makes the feat even crazier.

5) He's Worked with Some Unexpected Artists

Scott has collaborated with a long list of impressive artists, such as Kanye West, Quavo, Young Thug, and Kendrick Lamar. While working with some of the biggest names in hip-hop is amazing, Travis has worked with some unexpected artists, as well. He's collaborated with both Madonna and Rihanna over the years. Producing songs for two of music's biggest queens is a pretty big deal.

We're excited to see what Travis Scott does next in his career. It's sure to be impressive. Until new music comes out, though, we're just going to wait here for the official baby announcement.
