The producers of Top Gun: Maverick are being sued for copyright infringement by the family of the author of the 1983 article that inspired the original movie. The Yonay family has filed an injunction to stop screenings and distribution of the blockbuster and they're seeking unspecified damages. They claim the rights to the article reverting back to them in January 2020 but the long-delayed movie wasn't completed until long after that.
