The bipartisan bill to require automakers to keep AM radios in the vehicles they manufacture was introduced in the Senate yesterday. The “AM for Every Vehicle Act,” co-sponsored by a bipartisan group that includes Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Democratic Sen. Ed Markey, would force the manufacturers to keep installing AM radios in their vehicles, something that many of them are moving away from. Ford, BMW, Mazda, Tesla, Volkswagen, Volvo, Polestar, and Rivian have all declared AM radio to be an obsolete technology and say it interferes with the powertrain in electric vehicles.
