ROBIN ROBERTS went to LUKE BRYAN's farm to interview him for last night's special "Living Every Day". They talked about how Luke had to delay the start of his career because of the tragic death of his older brother, Chris.
Quote, "I was set to move to Nashville when I was 19. I had it all in line and had an apartment. Just before I moved, my brother was killed in a car accident. So that totally derailed and postponed my plans."
You may know the story from there. Instead of Nashville, he went to Georgia Southern University and graduated with a business degree. That's also where he met his future wife, Caroline. But he still had music on his mind.
He continues, quote, "My dad could tell that I was one foot in the door and one foot out the door and he said, 'This life will always be here.' He was really adamant about me chasing my dreams just based on what he had dealt with."
And just as his career got going, tragedy struck again.
Quote, "It was April 6th, 2007, and I get to play the Grand Ole Opry for the first time. That night, little did I know would be the last photo together of [me] and my sister. She passed away a month later.
"I know a lot of people out there that have dealt with loss. You have to honor their memory by living . . . and you have to be a positive light for people."
