Try as we might, we just can't seem to get PETE DAVIDSON and ARIANA GRANDE to move to the back burner and let us get on with our lives. Here's the latest . . . On "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, Pete did a skit where he gave his "first impressions" of candidates in tomorrow's elections, just by looking at pictures of them.
And he made the really dumb decision to include DAN CRENSHAW, a former Navy SEAL who lost his eye serving in Afghanistan in 2012, and now wears an eyepatch.
Pete said he looks like, quote, "a hitman in a porno movie," which, I mean, who cares, right? But then he added, quote, "I'm sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever. Whatever." (Here's video.)
The National Republican Congressional Committee demanded an apology, and Crenshaw Tweeted that he's not easily offended, but, quote, "vets don't deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes."
At the end of that same segment, Pete switched gears and addressed the ARIANA GRANDE situation.
He said, quote, "I know some of you are curious about the breakup. The Truth is it's nobody's business, and sometimes things just don't work out, and that's okay. She's a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world."
It sounds like Pete was trying to make amends after he upset Ariana with that "Saturday Night Live" promo last week.
One last note . . . just before "SNL" on Saturday, Ariana released a new song called "Thank U, Next", where she addressed several of her exes. But it wasn't a hatchet job. It's basically about what she learned from all of them.
Here's how it starts . . . "Thought I'd end up with [Big] Sean / But he wasn't a match / Wrote some songs about Ricky [Alvrez, her former dancer] / Now I listen and laugh. Even almost got married / And for Pete I'm so thankful / Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm [Mac Miller] / Cause he was an angel."
(WARNING!!! The song is loaded with profanity.)
