I've never shared this publicly, but our family became a foster family last year. We did the training 2 years ago then was licensed in March 2020..yep, right before COVID shut the world down. We were placed with a precious little boy and he was immediately part of our family. Well yesterday he went home. We've known that was probably going to be the case, but it's hard to know when/what will happen in foster care. Thankfully, he has an amazing family that loves him and will take great care of him! So it is a mixed bag of emotions--lots of tears but mostly they're tears of happiness for him. Here are some resources if you'd like more info on how to help foster kids in our area. Garrett's Place in Bessemer and The Hangar in Shelby County do great work assisting these kiddos.
