Red Sox player injured.... playing Fornite???

Boston pitcher DAVID PRICE has been terrible over his last few starts, and earlier this week, he was diagnosed with CARPAL TUNNEL.

There are a lot of things that can cause it . . . but there's been talk that it could have been caused by VIDEO GAMES, because everyone on the team is obsessed with Fortnite.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora isn't buying it, but he said he'd talk to Price about maybe taking a break from gaming while he recovers.

David doesn't think so either, but he's going to stop playing at the ballpark because it's become a "distraction."

He said, quote, "If [playing video games] was the cause of the problem, it started back in 1997 when I got my first PlayStation when I was 12 years old.  I've always played [them]. That's kind of my generation.  That's what we do.  If I need to shut down video games and pick up a new hobby, then so be it.  But I do not think that's the cause."

David was treated with a procedure similar to acupuncture, and is hoping to avoid surgery.

He's in the third season of a massive seven-year, $217 million contract.
