Parents arrested for torturing their 10 children in California

A day after Mother's Day, authorities in Fairfield, California, revealed that a man and woman were arrested for allegedly abusing most of their 10 children.

The children, who range in age from four months to 12 years, were discovered living in squalor after the 12-year-old disappeared, prompting the mother to call police. He was found sleeping under a bush in the yard of a neighbor, but when police took him home on March 31st, they were shocked at what they saw, prompting a six-week probe into possible child abuse.

Authorities said that nine of the children were the victims of torture, dating back to 2014. Some of the children had scars, with eight of them saying they'd suffered puncture wounds, burns, bruising and were shot repeatedly with a pellet gun.

Jonathan Allen, the 29-year-old biological father of some of the children, was charged with nine counts of felony child abuse and seven counts of torture. His bail was set at more than $5-million.

The mother of the children, Ina Rogers, faces misdemeanor charges of child endangerment, but she prosecutors are considering additional charges.
