The winner of the $1.5 BILLION Mega Millions drawing back in October has finally come forward, but decided to remain anonymous. They went for the lump sum of $878 million.
The crazy part is how long it took for them to come forward. They had 180 days to do it but the deadline of April 19th was fast approaching. I honestly thought they had no idea they won, or had lost the ticket or something. Turns out they winner was just getting everything in order to remain anonymous! I would be too nervous about losing the ticket or having it stolen!
Here's another kicker- the ticket was sold at a KC Mart in Simpsonville, SC and the winner said they bought their quick pick on a spur of the moment decision and actually LET someone else who was in a hurry go in front of them! If that person hadn't gone first, the ticket would have been theirs! OMG!!! According to a statement by the lottery commission, "A simple act of kindness led to an amazing outcome."
True- for the winner.... but what about that person who was in a hurry. They missed out on that big pay day. That would hurt!
