The CDC has released preliminary figures on the total number of deaths in the U.S. last year and 2020 is projected to be the deadliest year in the country's history.
According to the data, there were more than 3.2 million total deaths in the U.S. last year, compared to 2.8 million in 2019. The difference of about 400,000 lines up with the current COVID-19 death toll which stands at more than 401,000. It also disputes the claims of many skeptics who have argued that the COVID death toll has been greatly exaggerated.
